Rumoured, reported, verified — how we label map markers
Updated 2026-11-03
Why we label anything at all
A collectibles map is only useful if you can trust it. Few things are more annoying than driving across the map to an empty rooftop because someone guessed wrong. So every marker on our map tells you how sure we are about it.
There are three labels: rumoured, reported and verified.
Rumoured
A rumoured marker is unconfirmed. Nobody on our side has seen it, and no player has backed it up with an in-game report either.
Right now, before GTA VI is out, every collectible category is effectively rumoured. Rockstar has not announced any collectibles for the game, so even the idea of hidden packages or stunt jumps in GTA VI is a guess based on earlier games.
We keep rumoured markers to a minimum. Pure speculation is usually better discussed on the forum than pinned to a map.
Reported
A reported marker has a source but we haven't seen it in the game ourselves. On this site the source is almost always a player who posted the find. Our sister map uses the same label for places Rockstar has named or shown.
This is where most markers will start after launch. Someone finds a collectible, posts it on the Finds board with a map link and a description, and a moderator confirms the post before it becomes a marker. At that point it's "reported." It's probably right, but we haven't been there ourselves.
Reported markers are worth trying. If you go to one and it checks out, say so in the forum thread. If it doesn't, say that too. Both help.
Verified
A verified marker means we saw it in-game ourselves. We take our own screenshots for verified locations rather than borrowing images from anywhere else.
If you're on a tight schedule, focus on verified markers. They're the ones we'll stand behind.
How a marker moves up
The usual path looks like this:
- A player finds something and posts it on the forum, ideally using "copy map link" to point at the exact spot.
- A moderator checks the post and, if it's specific enough, adds it to the map as reported.
- We go there in-game, confirm it, take a screenshot, and mark it verified.
Markers can also move down. If several players say a reported location is wrong, we'll pull it while we check.
What this means at launch
GTA VI releases on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There are no locations on the map before then. In the first days after release, expect most new markers to be reported rather than verified, because verifying takes time and we'd rather be slow than wrong.
Your own progress is separate from these labels. Whether you've marked something found or not is stored in your browser, and the checklist shows where you stand across every category, no matter which label a marker carries.
