Planning a GTA 6 100% run
Updated 2026-11-03
Start with what you don't know
Nobody knows yet what 100% completion in GTA VI will involve. Rockstar hasn't announced any collectibles, and what actually counts will only become clear after the game releases on 19 November 2026. So the first rule of planning is to stay flexible.
What past games do teach is how to approach a completion run, and that part carries over well from one game to the next.
Story first or collect as you go
There are two common styles.
Story first. Play through the main story, then go back for everything else. More of the map, more vehicles and more tools tend to be available later, so cleanup is smoother. The downside is that the post-story stretch can feel long.
Collect as you go. Grab collectibles whenever you pass them. It spreads the work out, but you'll hit plenty of spots you can't reach yet.
A middle path works for many players. Play the story normally, pick up anything obvious along the way, and save dedicated sweeps for later.
Be careful with missable content
Open-world games sometimes have items or encounters you can miss for good if you push past a certain point. We don't know whether GTA VI has anything like that. Until players have mapped it out, be careful with categories that look tied to the story, like letters and notes and strangers and side characters. If someone on the forum flags something as missable, take it seriously.
Sweep by area
Once you're cleaning up, work one area at a time across several categories. Clear the hidden packages, stunt jumps and graffiti tags in a district before moving on, rather than finishing one category across the whole map. You'll spend far less time traveling.
On the map, turn on just the layers you're working on and hide the rest.
Track everything in one place
The checklist is where you see your progress across every category on the site. Your found and not-found marks are stored in your browser, with no account. A few practical notes:
- Use the same browser and device for the whole run. Progress doesn't follow you between devices on its own.
- Avoid private windows. Your progress may not survive closing them.
- Share your progress link when you ask for help, so others can see what you're missing.
Plan for the last few
The final handful in any category always takes the longest. Budget real time for it. When you get stuck, post on the 100% help board of the forum with your progress link and the category you're stuck on.
Pace yourself
Mapping a game this size takes time, for us and for everyone else. In the first days after launch, many markers will be "reported," meaning a player posted them and we haven't checked yet, rather than "verified." If you want a run without dead ends, it can pay to play the story first and start your sweeps once the map has filled in.
