GTA 6 wildlife photos map and checklist
rumoured Not confirmed in GTA VI yet. This page covers what the series suggests and fills in from launch day.
Rockstar's trailers make a point of Leonida's wildlife, alligators included, and the characters film everything on their phones. A photo-based animal collectible would fit, but it isn't announced. If the game has one, this layer will show where each animal turns up.
Map and checklist open on launch day, 19 November 2026. We only add a location once we've seen it in the game. In the meantime, the map shows Leonida's regions.
What GTA VI has shown so far
- Alligators appear in Grassrivers, and an in-game TV ad suggests hunting boars and deer.
- Snapmatic, the in-game social media app, is confirmed. A photo task would fit it, but none has been announced.
In earlier games
- The 2014 re-release of GTA V added a wildlife photography challenge: find and photograph animals around the map with the phone camera.
- Red Dead Redemption 2 built a whole compendium around studying animals, which shows how much Rockstar likes this kind of task.
What we expect in GTA VI
Our guess: animals tied to habitats like wetlands, beaches and farmland, some only at certain times of day. We'll mark spawn areas rather than exact points when an animal roams.
Tips
- Animals that roam get an area marker, not a pin. Look around the whole zone.
- Note the time of day when you report one in the forum. Some animals may only appear at night.
- Keep your distance from anything with teeth.
FAQ
How many wildlife photos are in GTA 6?
Not known yet. Rockstar hasn't announced a number, and we'll count them ourselves after launch on 19 November 2026.
Is there a wildlife photo challenge in GTA 6?
Not confirmed. GTA V's re-release had one, and the GTA VI trailers show plenty of wildlife, but Rockstar hasn't announced a collectible.
Will the map show exact animal spawns?
Where an animal always appears in one spot, yes. For animals that roam we'll mark the area where we've seen them.
Does the checklist save my progress?
Yes, in your browser, and it's shared with the map. Use Share progress on the map to get a link with your progress for another device.
Found one? Post it on the Finds board with a map link from the marker or spot.
